Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms. (1 Peter 4:10)
If you missed Stewardship Sunday on November 13, there is still time to prayerfully consider what you might like to pledge to West Hills for 2017. There are pledge cards in the pew racks in the Sanctuary. For more information, read the stewardship letter below.
October 31, 2016
Dear Members and Friends,
As I write this letter to you I am looking out my window and it is a beautiful fall day. The sun is out, the leaves are turning colors, and there is a slight chill in the air. Such a beautiful day reminds me of all the blessings which God pours out upon us every day. The day also brings to mind the words of the book of James 1:17 which reads, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like the shifting shadows.”
What also seems not to change is your generous giving to West Hills Church. During the past year, because of your faithful giving and support, West Hills Church continues to impact lives. Recently, in our church services, we have heard how our giving has changed lives in the Middle East, North Omaha and in our church. Thank you very much for your generous giving this past year.
As I look forward into 2017 I am excited about all that God will continue to do in and through West Hills. I envision the continuation of our already strong ministries and look forward to change and growth in our children’s and youth ministries. I am so enthusiastic that we as a church community will be going through The Story in 2017. I believe this journey through The Story will unite us in new ways as a church.
Our main verse for the 2017 Stewardship Season comes from 1 Peter 4:10, “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” During the next two weeks I would ask that we all prayerfully consider how God is calling us to be faithful stewards in our giving to West Hills in 2017. In order to help us in this process there is a stewardship devotional which is available to us. The devotional covers different scriptures in the Bible which help to guide us in Biblical giving. If you did not receive a devotional at church on Sunday, October 30th you may stop by the church to pick one up, we can mail one to you or you may access the devotional here.
Included with this letter is a pledge card for 2017. Please fill out all three sections of the card and bring it with you to church on Sunday, November 13 or if you are not able to come to church on the 13th please mail your card to the church. Make sure to mark whether or not you would like pledge envelopes. My hope is that as we fill out this pledge card and as we give throughout 2017 that we will see ourselves as faithful stewards and realize that as we give back to God through West Hills we are changing the world!
Thank you once again for your giving to West Hills in 2016. I invite you to join Micah and me on Stewardship Sunday, November 13, as we joyously make our financial commitment to West Hills for 2017.
Blessings in Christ,
Derek RichmanPastor, West Hills Church
